1. The Beatles: With a Little Help from My Friends
This song might be most appropriate for younger aged graduations, based on the rhythm and style of the song. However, friends heavily influence school days regardless of the age.
2. Queen: We are the Champions
While this song is typically connected with sporting events, I heard it at a graduation in 2009 and thought it was befitting. After all, graduation is a measure of success to be reveled in.
3. Green Day: Wake me up when September ends
I would consider this song for graduations that will lead to another stage of education. For example it would be suitable to play at a junior high school education because, as excited as thirteen year olds are to go to high school, they are also ready for a long summer break.
4. Miley Cyrus: The Climb
I wish this song had been popular while I was in college. Faced with my own insecurities and external negative pressures, graduating college was an uphill climb. It's a great expression of having made it through a struggle.
5. Kayne West: Stronger
This is another song that increases the sentiment of having made it through the struggle. In some cases it may apply to high school, but I would put it more with college graduation or maybe even graduation from the policy academy or military boot camp.
6. James Brown: I feel good
Seriously, this song is perfect for celebrations.
7. Smashing Pumpkins: Today
While appropriate for any momentous occasion, this song is highlights how significant graduation day is. They may be more big bright days in the future, but focus on today and enjoying every moment.
8. Bon Jovi: We weren't born to follow
Doesn't every generation think they have what it takes to lead us to a better place? And why shouldn't they?
9. Rolling Stones: I'm Free
This is the song I was singing to myself during my college graduation. At the time I didn't think I would continue to be tied down to such a strict schedule in order to get everything I needed done. And then I started working.
10. Black Sabbath: Iron Man
How can you listen to this song and not feel pumped? The beat alone is enough to make me feel stronger, taller, tougher.
